The Black Hole (1979)

Following the success of Star Wars - Walt Disney Productions produced The Black Hole in 1979. I saw it first in 1981 when my school (Boston Primary School) showed it on film night. This was around the time I was starting to read comic books.
Sticker Albums were becoming popular in South Africa. Panini produced an album with 144 stickers to collect. Printed in Italy - it was distributed by Alba Publications, Cape Town. Here is the cover:

Caltex Service Stations produced a Giant Wall Poster - with 20 stickers to collect to stick on. It also advertised the film - notice the old Ster-Kinekor symbol. The annotations are in English and Afrikaans. Here are both sides:

Thanks Marc for this picture of some of the individual Caltex Stickers:
These are some Black Hole comics produced in the USA at the time by Gold Key & Whitman:

Supercomix!

These were easy to find in the 70's and 80's. Published by Republican Press were Supercomix - South Africa's Own Comics. They often had a Pop Star poster as a centrefold. Popular DC Titles reprinted were Superman, Superboy & Wonder Woman. Popular Marvel titles reprinted were Spiderman, Hulk, Captain America & Thor. Popular cartoon titles like Donald Duck, Popeye, Mighty Mouse, etc were also reprinted.
Here is a Supercomix advert and the covers of Amazing Spiderman 6 & 12.

Atlas Publications Detective Picture Library Digest 6

This rare South African reprint was published in 1960 by Atlas Publications (S.A. Magazine Co.).
Cover and Interior pages are newsprint - so after being read and swopped a few times they would likely be falling apart and thrown away.
These titles were printed in a smaller size (164x115mm) compared to the original DC Comics title.
Cover printed in colour, interior in black-and-white.
The printing reproduction from the original was very good quality. This issue is only 24 pages.

It contains four stories from DC Comics' Gang Buster 55 (1956).
The Atlas Cover bears no resemblance to the four stories contained therein.
