Afri-Comics Mighty Man 1

The first issue of Afri-Comics Mighty Man, published by Xanap in 1976.

It features the origin story of Mighty Man:

Danny Ndhlomo is a Policeman, who gets shot in the chest during a hold- up. The doctors save his life, but he is left with a bullet dangerously close to his heart, and advised to avoid strain or further injury. He moves to the police station file room, where he meets Donna Buthelezi. Donna becomes embroiled in a blackmail plot, and is forced to attempt to steal the police criminal record file of a notorious criminal. As Danny tries to help Donna carry the files, he is caught red-handed with the incriminating file. He escapes, and while on the run discovers a mysterious cave. The strain of his escape causes him to collapse into a pool within the cave, clutching his chest. He is rescued by a group of alien creatures (with fish-like bodies). They subject him to "Ray treatments" in their futuristic laboratory, deep within the cave.

Danny discovers his bullet has been dissolved, and he is now "The Strongest Human in the World!". The aliens provide his costume and he adopts the name "Mighty Man". Mighty Man foils the criminals' blackmail plot, capturing them and handing them over to the police.

Later, as Mighty man searches for Donna's brother Jack, Donna is threatened at gunpoint. Jack leaps in front of Donna, sacrificing himself for his sister, dying from the gunshot wound to the chest.
